Welcome to the 2023 Ojai Senior Cup

 

We are very excited to present the 5th Annual Ojai Senior Cup in 2023.  In a few short years we are well down the road to becoming one of the West Coast’s premier Senior Amateur Championships.

 

Changes for 2023

 

Based on player feedback, some key improvements for our 2023 championship include:

  • All 54 holes on the Gil Hanse designed Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai, CA
  • Unique course set-ups each round to take advantage of the flexibility of the Hanse design
  • 90 player maximum field size to improve tee time blocks and pace of play
  • Registrations reviewed and approved to ensure the highest caliber field and maximum WAGR points
  • Increased room blocks set aside for accommodations in Ojai

 

Championship Divisions

 

Senior Division

  • Open to players who have reached their 55th birthday by October 20, 2023
  • Maximum handicap index of 6.5
  • Course set-up 6,500 - 6,750 yards

 

Super Senior Division

  • Open to players who have reached their 65th birthday by October 20, 2023
  • Maximum handicap index of 8.5
  • Course set-up 6,300 - 6,500 yards

 

Registration

  • Registration opens in July of 2023
  • Initial pending registrations will be reviewed and approved by August 31, 2023
  • Players who meet the following exemption criteria will be immediately approved for entry: *
    • All past Ojai Senior Cup Champions
    • Top 15 players in each Ojai Senior Cup division in 2022
    • Top 50 WAGR ranked Senior Amateurs
    • Top 10 SCGA ranked Senior Amateurs in 2022
    • Top 10 NCGA ranked Senior Amateurs in 2022
    • Qualifiers for the U.S. Senior Amateur in 2021-2023
    • Qualifiers for the U.S, Senior Open in 2021 -2023
  • Other special exemption requests will also be reviewed and considered prior to August 31, 2023
  • Registration will remain open until October 10, 2023 for any remaining open spots or to be placed on the wait list to replace withdrawals.

 

*  The Tournament Committee reserves the right to deny entry to any player who has exhibited actions that are considered unbecoming to the Ojai Senior Cup and/or the game of golf.

 

 

Schedule

 

Friday, October 20

  • Tee times starting at 10:00 am with threesomes off the 1st and 10th tee
  • Post-round players food & beverage reception in Zaidee's Bar & Grill overlooking the golf course

 

Saturday, October 21

  • Complimentary player breakfast served at Zaidee's from 6:30 am to 10:00 am
  • Tee times starting at 8:00 am with threesomes off the 1st and 10th tee

 

Sunday, October 22

  • Complimentary player breakfast served at Zaidee's from 6:30 am to 10:00 am
  • Tee times starting at 8:00 am with threesomes off the 1st and 10th tee
  • Post-round players food & beverage reception at Zaidee's
  • Awards presentation after play concludes

The Ojai Senior Cup is a World Amateur Golf Rankings event for the Senior division: WAGR - Ojai Senior Cup

 

SCGA Player of the Year

To determine the SCGA Senior Player of the Year, the Ojai Senior Cup has been awarded the highest ranking points level among non-SCGA/USGA events: SCGA Senior POY - Ojai Senior Cup
